Prof. Michael Galaty viziton IAUP në kuadër të projektit Fulbright Specialist Program për të avancuar kërkimin antropologjik në Kosovë (Maj – Qershor 2025)

Instituti i Antropologjisë në Universitetin e Prishtinës (IAUP) ka kënaqësinë të mirëpresë Profesor Michael Galaty nga Universiteti i Michiganit (SHBA), në kuadër të Programit Fulbright Specialist. Vizita e tij dyjavore realizohet përmes projektit “Enhancing Research Excellence for the Institute of Anthropology,” projekt i financuar nga Ambasada e Shteteve të Bashkuara në Kosovë, Ministria e Arsimit, Shkencës dhe Teknologjisë dhe Universiteti i Prishtinës për të forcuar kërkimin dhe edukimin antropologjik në vend.

Prof. Galaty është një studiues i shquar i arkeologjisë me focus kërkimi në Greqi, Shqipëri dhe Kosovë dhe anëtar i këshillit drejtues të IAUP. Gjatë vizitës së tij, ai do të angazhohet në një program të pasur aktivitetesh akademike dhe profesionale. Ky program përfshin edhe dy ligjërata publike në Fakultetin Filozofik:

• 26 maj (16:30–18:00, Salla 127) — Anthropological Archaeology in the Balkans Today: What Big Questions Should We Be Asking?

• 28 maj (16:00–17:00, Salla 127) — Preparing for Graduate School in Anthropology in the United States: A Step-By-Step How-To Guide

Përveç ligjëratave, Prof. Galaty do të udhëheq disa punëtori për ngritje të kapaciteteve me stafin dhe studentët e Departamentit të Antropologjisë/Institutit të Antropologjisë, me fokus në metodologjitë kërkimore, etikën akademike dhe strategjinë e kërkimit. Ai gjithashtu do të marrë pjesë në vizita në terren në lokalitete arkeologjike në Kosovë, duke pasuruar më tej trajnimin praktik të studentëve dhe stafit akademik.

Si pjesë e vizitës, Prof. Galaty do të marrë pjesë edhe në promovimin e revistës akademike Kosova Anthropologica, vëllimit 2 (2024) ku ai është anëtar i redaksisë.

Vizita e Prof. Galaty është një hap i rëndësishëm drejt avancimit të Institutit të Antropologjisë si një qendër e rëndësishme hulumtuese në Universitetin e Prishtinës.

Prof. Michael Galaty to Visit IAUP as Part of Fulbright Specialist Program to Advance Anthropological Research in Kosova

(May – June 2025)

The Institute of Anthropology at the University of Prishtina (IAUP) is pleased to welcome Professor Michael Galaty from the University of Michigan (USA) as part of the Fulbright Specialist Program. His two-week visit is made possible through the project “Enhancing Research Excellence for the Institute of Anthropology,” funded by the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, and the University of Prishtina. The project aims to strengthen anthropological research and education in the country.

Prof. Galaty is a distinguished scholar in anthropological archaeology, with a research focus on Greece, Albania, and Kosova, and serves as a member of the IAUP governing board. During his visit, he will engage in a rich program of academic and professional activities. This includes two public lectures at the Faculty of Philosophy:

• May 26 (16:30–18:00, Room 127) — Anthropological Archaeology in the Balkans Today: What Big Questions Should We Be Asking?

• May 28 (16:00–17:00, Room 127) — Preparing for Graduate School in Anthropology in the United States: A Step-By-Step How-To Guide

In addition to the lectures, Prof. Galaty will lead several capacity-building workshops with the staff and students of the Department/Institute of Anthropology, focusing on research methodologies, academic ethics, and research strategy. He will also participate in field visits to archaeological sites across Kosovo, further enriching the practical training of students and academic staff.

As part of his visit, Prof. Galaty will also participate in the promotion of Kosova Anthropologica, Volume 2 (2024), our academic journal, where he serves as a member of the editorial board.

Prof. Galaty’s visit marks an important step toward advancing the Institute of Anthropology as a key research center at the University of Prishtina.
